Consumers can now shop for groceries from FoodCity Supermarket online through Vodafone’s Vitikart platform.
According to a statement from the telecommunications company, the Suva-based supermarket now provides the convenience to purchase groceries and other essential goods online and get these delivered right to the customer’s doorstep.
Head of Vodafone Fiji eCommerce, Shailendra Prasad said, consumers were seeking greater convenience and with the COVID-19 pandemic they were also seeking safety in shopping.
“We are very pleased to partner with FoodCity to offer both our customers the convenience and safety of shopping through our Vitikart platform,” he said.
“Customers will be able to select FoodCity as a merchant on the Vitikart platform through the Vitikart App or website, browse the items available for sale, add these items to the virtual cart and checkout to pay.”
He said customers had the option to pay either with M-PAiSA or Visa and Mastercard.
“We urge customers to pay using M-PAiSA, since there is no fees and charges for paying with M-PAiSA.”
According to the statement from Vodafone FoodCity will be the first full-fledged supermarket offering grocery products through the Vitikart platform.
FoodCity’s managing director Nazeel Buksh said they were glad to be on board with VitiKart.
“As a new supermarket we understand that online shopping is more convenient now particularly at this time of restricted movements,” Mr Buksh said.
“FoodCity is the first supermarket to be live on VitiKart for consumers to shop major essentials and grocery items safely from their home.
“Shop with us, save your debit/credit card fees by using M-PAiSA when you shop online.
“FoodCity Pte Ltd was created to capture the high-end convenience and retail shopping.”
Mr Buksh said with FoodCity’s experience in retailing supermarket, convenience shopping and café shops, plus utilising its inhouse resource structure in-terms of people onboarding, training, compliance, FoodCity Pte Ltd had in a joint venture with Vodafone entered the VitiKart platform to sell their products online.
“VitiKart is the only eShop in Fiji that offers M-PAiSA, a service that is used by more than half of the population in Fiji and does not charge their customers any transaction fees,” he said.
Free delivery promotion is offered by FoodCity Supermarket store on VitiKart and is applicable on orders of $100 and above within Viti Levu area only according to Vodafone.
