Front rowers Samisoni Taukei’aho and Aidan Ross have inked new deals with the Chiefs.

Hooker Taukei’aho has recommitted to the Hamilton-based franchise through 2024, while loosehead prop Ross has signed through 2023.

Taukei’aho has developed into a powerful rake with a devastating running game since joining the Chiefs as an injury replacement in 2017.

The 23-year-old, who debuted against the Highlanders four years ago, has played 44 matches for the franchise and has set his sights on a big few years ahead.

“I have really enjoyed my last four years here at the Chiefs. The environment has been outstanding. Culture is massive no matter where you are from, as a Chief we are one big family,” he said in a statement.

Bay of Plenty prop Ross has made 43 appearances for the Chiefs since 2017, and has been instrumental in turning around their scrum after a horror start to Super Rugby Aotearoa.

As a result, Ross’ name has been thrown about by some as a possible All Blacks bolter later this year.

“I’m grateful to be able to continue to play for a club and region I am passionate about. There is a great bunch of fellas I go to work with each day, and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else,” he said.

Chiefs head coach Clayton McMillan added: “Both Aidan and Samisoni have been outstanding this season, and we believe are deserving of higher honours. We are fortunate to have them extend with us, and we are looking forward to seeing them continue to extend themselves.”
