A Nausori market handicraft vendor said when authorities enforced containment zones, she lost out on valuable business.

Marica Qio Yasa said customers who had ordered mats and other handicraft could not pick them up because of border containment.

Another issue was obtaining stock for her business.

“I used to get my supplies from Tailevu and Rakiraki but since people cannot move in and out, I am running out of stock,” she said.

Ms Yasa said despite having limited stock, she would continue with her business because her family members were depending on her.

“At the moment I am managing with the little things that I bought and I believe I will be able to manage as it will be enough to feed my family.” She said the movement restrictions had significantly affected her sales.

“Before, I used to get $500 a week or sometimes more than that, but now I only earn $100.
