For Fiji 7s new find, Sireli Maqala, listening to his more senior peers is a rule he has set and he knows this will help him develop his game further.
“I do my best in every session to listen to the senior players in the team,” Maqala said.
The 21-year-old speedster from Burewai Village in Nakorotubu, Ra said listening to the leaders in the team like Jerry Tuwai had given him the much needed experience.
“Being one of the younger players in the team, I have learnt a lot especially when it comes to how I perform on and off the field, maintaining my cool under pressure and discipline.”
Maqala said one thing that he loved about the team was the camaraderie. “When we are together, there’s no pressure.
“The boys are always laughing, and someone is always ready to make a joke or pull a prank like Jiuta Wainiqolo or Napolioni Bolaca, and that keeps us loosened up and it’s the best place to be.”
The young rugger who plays for Nabua Rugby Club said although it was a hard ask, he was determined to book a seat for the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
