THE South Pacific Tourism Exchange has taken over from the limited Pacific island nations’ attendance at the Bula Fiji Tourism Exchange, says Cook Islands tourism hotelier Tata Crocombe.
In a statement this week, Mr Crocombe said he believed the two-day event, which starts today in Auckland, would be a huge success.
Mr Crocombe owns many resorts on the island and operates the Rarotongan Beach Resort and Spa, Aitutaki Lagoon Resort and Spa, the Sanctuary Rarotonga and South Sea Villas.
South Pacific Tourism Organisation CEO Ilisoni Vuidreketi said there were 50 buyers (companies) and 66 individuals participating in the SPTE event.
“The focus has been on targeting more long-haul markets (buyers and wholesalers) to participate at the event, primarily Europe and UK, the Americas and China,” he said.
