Canada’s Fiji Disaster Relief donated FJ$27,325 to the Prime Minister’s National Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Fund today.
The funds were collected by the Fiji Disaster Relief Society (FDRS) of Canada through community fundraising efforts over the New Year using community radio and social media platforms.
Speaking on behalf of the Prime Minister, Permanent Secretary Yogesh Karan extended his appreciation to FDRS of Canada for recognising that the Prime Minister’s Fund was an excellent way in which Fijian diaspora could help Fijian to build back better.
“The funds are highly transparent and supports recovery and rehabilitation based on need and priority and follows no other criteria,” Mr Karan said.
