The Sai Prema Foundation with Laxmi Narayan Temple and Hanuman Chalisa Pariwar assisted 7000 people living in areas affected by STC Yasa.

Foundation director Sumeet Tappoo said he and a team of 30 travelled from Suva to Vanua Levu to deliver the “buckets full of love” to people who were in desperate need for food and basic needs.

He said the buckets contained basic food items and other necessities for the villagers.

“The members and I were deeply touched and saddened by the plight of the people who were devastated by Yasa,” he said.

“It’s one thing to assist from where we are based but it’s another entirely to be on the ground seeing the devastation for ourselves.

“Seeing the devastation, we are now planning two more distribution efforts.

“We are hoping to collaborate with the UN to distribute 500 more packs for the outer islands, like the Lau Group and 500 more for people in Vanua Levu.”
