Fiji Pine: 2 million trees planted in 2020

Fiji Pine Ltd planted more than two million trees in six forests in 2020.

The company stated in a social media post the trees were planted over an area of 1843.74 hectares from January to December.

As many as 616,505 trees were planted in Nabou, 490,939 in Nadi, 336,977 in Lololo, 199,868 in Ra, 241,309 in Bua and 162,828 trees were planted in Macuata.

“Cyclone Yasa caused substantial damage to our plantations in Vanua Levu and our team is currently planning for rehab works.

“These will include salvaging damaged trees, propping up trees aged between one to three years and restocking young plantations completely damaged,” stated the social media post.

Fiji Pine Ltd revealed they had set a challenging target for next year to restock 3000 hectares.

“This operation requires substantial investment to the tune of $3.5 million to $4 million per annum.”
