Sigatoka fishermen missing after boating tragedy; search in progress

Two fishermen are missing in waters around the Sigatoka River mouth after their boat overturned, believed to have been caused by strong currents.

Fiji Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said search efforts were now in progress at the river mouth.

She said there were three fishermen who had ventured out on a fishing trip this morning.

The third man managed to swim to safety and reported the incident at the Sigatoka Police Station.

Ms Naisoro said a team from the Sigatoka Police Station was conducting the search.
