Four young women with great passion for baking and cooking have come together to start their own catering business.

The culmination of hard work was yesterday seen in the launch of the home-based business, The Four Sweets, at Wesley Church in Butt St, Suva.

Their products are the katalau box which consists of Fijian breakfast and the sweet tooth box which consists of English breakfast.

One of the owners Talei Whippy said they were taught by their grandmother from an early age.

“Three weeks ago we had discussions with another of ours on opening our own business,” the 27-year-old said.

“One of my sisters is good in baking cakes and pastries, the other had marketing skills, while our cousin Emily Boteanakadavu is a great cook.

“Putting all these expertise together, so we planned to launch our catering business.”

Speaking at the launch, Women Entrepreneurs Business Council chairwoman Eseta Nadakuitavuki said the young women had been blessed with God-given talent.

“Use your family and friends to market this business,” she said.

“At first you shouldn’t expect profit to be coming in fast, keep moving, it will probably pour in during the fourth or fifth, if it doesn’t then there is a need to restructure your business plan.”

Mrs Nadakuitavuki reminded them to be flexible with customers.

“You need to adjust to the needs of your customers, their needs are paramount in the running of business.

“There are competitors, remember this, don’t compete but they should comprehend the business.”
