A former Ministry of Health (MOH) yesterday pleaded guilty count each of obtaining a financial advantage and general dishonesty – causing a loss in June 2020.
Vasiti Tabuakuro who was a temporary relieving packer with the Fiji Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Services admitted to engaging in corrupt practices in the Suva Magistrates Court.
Tabuakuro was charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC).
She pleaded guilty to both charges against her, admitting that she received revenue and issued receipts from a Ministry of Health (MoH) receipt book without entering the details of the payments into the Revenue Collector’s Cash Analysis Book.
She also admitted to obtaining the amount of FJD $4,050.45 as a result of her conduct, as well as causing a loss to the MOH of the same amount.
FICAC State counsel, Adrian Sharma read out the summary of facts, which Tabuakuro admitted to.
The matter was adjourned to August 27, 2020 to check on mitigation and sentencing submissions.
