THE Ministry of Finance intends to work with commercial banks to ensure its online banking systems are secure.
Permanent secretary Filimone Waqabaca made the comment during the launch of ANZ Bank’s new online system, ANZ Transactive this week.
“We are mindful of the existence of hacking possibilities in terms of internet banking so we are working with different institutions that have their own firewall systems to ensure their product is safe and cannot be used by external parties,” he said.
Mr Waqabaca said ANZ’s new online platform would improve their productivity.
ANZ Transactive manager Melvin Houng Lee said the online banking (transactive) system would be used by their corporate and commercial clients for secured and convenience purposes. He said a substantial investment was used to develop the system.
