Deputy Secretary for the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources Dr Raijeli Taga has been appointed as the new Permanent Secretary for the ministry.

Public Service Commission chairman Vishnu Mohan made the announcement via a government statement this afternoon saying the appointment followed a wide search of both internal and external candidates.

He said the appointment was also finalised with the agreement of Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

“Since 2018, Dr Taga stood out in her service as the Deputy Secretary for Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources, making her a natural fit for this promotion,” Mr Mohan said.

Dr Taga received her PhD in Mining Engineering in the Field of Environment Toxicology at the University of Queensland.

She is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and previously served on the Board of Directors of Investment Fiji.

Mr Mohan said backed by her strong foundation of skills and experience within the ministry, the PSC looked forward to seeing Dr Taga help lead Lands and Mineral Resources in her new role.
