A damaging heavy swell warning is now in force the waters of Southwest Viti Levu and Mamanuca waters and Kadavu passage.
Fiji Meteorological Department says a high pressure system together with a low pressure system to the far south of Fiji generates and directs heavy southerly swells towards the southern and western parts of the Fiji group.
Southern coastal areas of Mamanuca group, Southwestern Viti Levu (Coral Coast to Pacific Harbour), Kadavu, Beqa, and Vatulele can expect sea flooding especially during high tide.
High tides today were 06:30am and will be at 7:00pm tonight.
Over open waters of Southwest Viti Levu waters, Kadavu passage, Mamanuca waters, southern Koro seas and southern Lau waters will get damaging heavy swells with heights up to 5.0m.
Fiji Met says the swell heights for today will be 3.5m to 4.5m and on Saturday they will be 2.5m to 3.0m.
