Fijians stuck in New Zealand have a chance to return home this week.
National airline Fiji Airways announced an evacuation flight has been scheduled for tomorrow to bring back Fijians stranded after New Zealand closed off the country’s borders.
In a statement, the airline said evacuation services would be operated to and from Auckland Airport.
The flight will depart Nadi at 10am and arrive into Auckland at 1pm.
The return flight is expected to depart from New Zealand at 2.10pm and arrive in Nadi at 5pm.
The statement added that pre-booked guests who have yet to use their tickets could also board the flight. “Limited seats are available on all evacuation flights,” the statement read.
“All Auckland-Nadi flight guests are advised that only Fiji citizens (Fijian passport holders) are able to enter Fiji at this time.
“As with all recent evacuation flights arrivals, all arriving guests on these flights will be required to go into self-isolation at a Fijian Government-mandated facility for 14-days.
“They will be unable to go to their homes or residences. Per the directive of authorities, transit passengers cannot be uplifted on evacuation flights to Fiji.”
