LAMI High School speedster Waisea Talemaitoga has fired a warning shot to his competitors in the zone competition.

He won the blue ribbon event and the 200 metres gold medal during the school’s inter-house competition yesterday at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

The 18-year old runner has been a top favourite in the zone competition and Coca-Cola Games.

“I’ve been winning gold in the inter-house meet since I started high school and also in the intermediate grades but I kept falling short in the zone.

“My goal this year as a senior student and my final year in high school is to qualify for the Coca-Cola Games and win a medal for my school,” said Talemaitoga.

The Lauan flyer from Lakeba scooped gold in the senior boys long jump, 200m final and the 100m final.

His personal best in the 100m is 11 seconds and he believes that it’s possible to improve his time and compete against the best in the Fiji Finals.

In the 200m final, the youngster clocked an unofficial time of 22.10 seconds and he knows he can do better.
