TO lead is to serve, that was the message conveyed to the school prefects of Gospel High School at their prefects induction ceremony yesterday.

More than 100 students were inducted, with Mesulame Ratumaiyale taking up the leadership role of head boy and Emali Bukalidi as head girl.

Ms Emali who shared the accomplishment with her twin sister, deputy head girl Miriama Bukalidi couldn’t hold back her tears when she described what it meant to her, especially leading 896 students this year.

Ms Emali, who hails from Visoto Village in Ovalau, said she was pleased to be able to share the responsibility with her sister during their last year at the school.

“It’s a huge challenge to lead 896 students but for me it’s not about telling people what to do but is about serving them to the best of my ability,” she said.

“I will try my best to balance my school work and my leadership role and hope God gives me the strength to carry out my new role well.”

She said she and her sister were lucky to have their whole family supporting them during such an important moment.
