THE berth ramp at the Savusavu wharf has been upgraded, providing a safer arrival for members of the travelling public.

Fiji Roads Authority CEO Jonathan Moore said the ramp had been in a dilapidated condition attributed to wear and tear.

He said they had looked at a number of options to complete the repair works.

“Works included replacement of the existing steel ramp structure with new concrete as a steel composite structure, construction of the new fender beam and installation of new fenders and bollards,” Mr Moore said.

“These upgrading works will significantly increase the life expectancy of the existing RORO Ramp Structure.

“Maintenance works on Savusavu RORO (roll-on roll-off) ramp is now complete and ready for operation.”

All works in Savusavu were carried out by the FRA North Maintenance Contractor RPA Company.
