Weather watch: Strong wind warning in force for Rotuma waters

A STRONG wind warning is now in force for Rotuma waters.

The national weather forecasting centre in Nadi says a trough of low pressure with cloud and rain is affecting the maritime island.

Strong easterly winds 20 to 25 knots over waters has been forecast with rough seas, and moderate to fresh easterly wind over land.

The weatherman says the trough of low pressure remains slow moving just to the north of Fiji, with associated cloud and showers to affect the group.

The forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group – occasional showers and few thunderstorms over Vanua Levu, and cloudy periods with brief showers over the eastern parts and interior of the larger islands.

Cloudy periods with afternoon or evening showers elsewhere, and cool at night.
