GOING on his first international bodybuilding championship, Jordan Pillay received a boost of $5000 this afternoon from sponsors Digicel Fiji.
Pillay will be representing Fiji to the South Pacific Bodybuilding Championship in Vanuatu next week alongside 11 other bodybuilders.
Digicel Fiji CEO Mike Greig said they were proud to support a sport that did not get much recognition and an athlete who would be competing for the first time in an international event.
“We are proud to support Jordan as he goes and represents the country next week, funding for a minor sport is not easy and we are happy that we could be able to be of help to Jordan,” said Greig.
Pillay said he was excited to make his international debut and is hoping for the best after months of intense training.
“I want to go out and give my best and through this funding, I am confident that my performance will be boosted because I will now be able to afford the meals that I need to take while I am there,” he said.
“I am thankful to Digicel Fiji for giving me this opportunity to be able to prove myself and with this funding, I am confident of doing my best.”
Pillay will be participating in the men’s physique category at the South Pacific Bodybuilding Championship in Vanuatu.
