DEFENDING champions Semesa Naiseruvati and Litia Tikoisuva retained their title in the 2019 Kontiki Finance Pineapple Cup tournament making it three consecutive years of winning.
The cup finals were held yesterday at the Suva Bowling Club in Suva featuring bowlers from across the country.
Tournament official Dan Lum-On said it was anybody’s game at the beginning of the tournament and the standard of skills showcased had gone a step higher.
“The games went really well and at the beginning it was really anyone’s game, everyone brought in their own talent but all our top bowlers made it through the quarter-finals,” said Lum-On.
Despite the unfavourable weather earlier in the day, the competition ended on a high note.
“We had to hold off the games at the beginning of the second day due to the weather but it stopped and we continued with our eliminations.
“This is the third time Semesa and Litia have won the title and a big congratulations to them, they have worked really hard and done well during the tournament,” said Lum-on.
“We are fortunate to have the support of Kontiki Finance and we thank them for always being behind the sport, supporting us any way they can,” he added.
