Senior Ministry of Agriculture officials from the around the country are currently meeting at Tanoa International Hotels on its Costed Operational Plan (COP).
Opened by the permanent secretary for Agriculture David Kolitagane, the Operational Plan will provide a framework to allow the Ministry in delivering its outputs for the 2019 – 2020 financial year.
According to a statement by the Fijian Governement, it will also set the base for the next five planning periods to achieve targets as outlined in the Ministry’s Strategic Development Plan 2019 – 2023 which has been endorsed by Cabinet.
Speaking at the forum today, PS Kolitagane emphasised the need for the ministry’s officials to prioritise farmers which are its key stakeholders adding that officials would be strictly disciplined if they fail to do their duty.
“Let me make an important policy announcement here on customer/farmers services.
Effective immediately, if farmers’ complaints are not addressed appropriately in an atimely manner there is a ‘zero-tolerance policy’ in place,” he said.
“We want to create an efficient structure that can help us deliver a better quality of service and on time. We are going to decentralize our financial process making procurement of goods and services timelier.”
