Weather watch: Gale warning for Rotuma cancelled

THE gale warning previously in force for Rotuma is now cancelled.

The weather forecasting centre in Nadi says the depression is moving East-Southeast at about 10km/hr.

Meanwhile, for Rotuma, expect strong winds with speeds up to 55km/hr gradually easing, very rough seas with damaging southerly swells.

Occasional showers and few thunderstorms are also forecast.

The weatherman has also advised that sea flooding of low-lying coastal areas should be expected.

Tropical depression TD12F centre was located about 140km East-Northeast of Rotuma at 6am today.

Close to its centre, the depression is expected to have average winds up to 55km/hr with momentary gusts to 80km/hr.
