FARMERS on the island of Mali in Macuata gathered at Ligalevu village this morning for the annual show in showcasing their yams.

Mali district representative Seru Moce said this was the second year for the show to be held on the island.

Mr Moce said farmers on the village looked forward to the show every year to showcase their produce.

“The show is aimed at ensuring food security for villagers, and as a firm of revenue generation,” he said.

“Most importantly it is a show aimed at teaching children on the tradition of yam planting on the island a practice which is fast disappearing among our young people.”

Close to 20 farmers took part at the show this morning.
