SUVA Grammar School made an impact yesterday grabbing the overall girl’s title from former champions St Joseph Secondary School at the Coca-Cola Suva Zone 2 competition at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

The school scooped 22 gold, 11 silver and 16 bronze medals. School principal Segran Pillay said it was a proud moment for the school and would try to maintain consistency in their performance as they head for the Fiji Finals.

“This is a great achievement for us because after a few years we were able to get back our overall girls title.

“We will try and maintain the standard and give our best shot as we approach the Coca-Cola Games. There is no pressure on us however we will try and use all our resources to give our level best,” said Pillay.

Meanwhile, defending boys champion Marist Brothers High School managed to retain their title scooping 34 gold, 26 silver and 20 bronze medals.

Suva Zone 2 secretary Ashish Prasad said the two-day event ended on a high note with good sportsmanship displayed.

“It was a good and healthy competition, the schools were well behaved and the athletes showed good sportsmanship qualities and this has all been a success.

“With the competition displayed here today we are hoping to give the best results in the Coca-Cola Games and bring the title back to Suva,” said Prasad.
