THE Navua football side had a hard fought 2-1 win over Taveuni in their opening match in the senior division of the Courts Inter District Championship.
Both teams rested goal less as the intensity of the match increased in the second spell.
Former Suva rep Shailendra Buisena scored the first goal to put Taveuni ahead 1-nil.
Navua captain Sikeli Naula headed in the equalizer before Sharad Kumar snatched the winner late in the match.
Both teams will be in action again tomorrow.
In other Senior division matches yet to be completed, Lami plays Savusavu while Tailevu Naitasiri takes on Rakiraki.
