SUVA students Nathan Singh and Christopher Zoing are part of the national amateur boxing squad preparing for the Commonwealth Games in Australia.

They join Olympian Winston Hill, Jo Ravudi Jr, Jone Davule in the Fiji Amatuer Boxing Association (FABA) 2018 Pizza King Wishbone in the national training camp.

They will compete for selection to the 2018 Commonwealth Games at Gold Coast.

Christopher and Zoing are Marist Brothers High School students. FABA president Manasa Baravilala said the squad would continue to train until the end of next month.

“The training camp is being run by coaches Pauliasi Ratu and Napoleon Taumoepeau and manager Manu Koroi.

“As part of its Commonwealth Games preparation, the team will compete in a tri-nation boxing tournament at the Lamana Hotel in Port Moresby on Saturday March 10,” Baravilala said.

“All four elite boxers and a youth boxer will compete against Papua New Guinea and New South Wales.”

After the tournament in Port Moresby, the squad will fly to Brisbane for a one week training camp before returning to Fiji.

The squad is also preparing for the 2018 Oceania Boxing Youth Championship to be held in Samoa in May.
