THE Tertiary Education and Loans Board (TSLB) has awarded 618 scholarships to successful applicants under the National Toppers Scheme.
TSLB chairperson Dixon Seeto said from the list of 2577 applicants received, TSLB made the offer to 618 successful applicants.
Mr Seeto said these successful applicants were contacted and advised to get their offer letters from higher education institutions and collect their offer letters and bond forms from TSLB. For Tertiary Education Loans Scheme (TELS), he confirmed that 5174 applicants were received and processed by the board.
Mr Seeto clarified that TSLB now received and processed applications at the same time.
“The new applications are being processed on a daily basis and TSLB officers will be receiving and processing new applications from the roadshow venues,” he said.
“The offer letters, bond forms and confirmation letters are issued by TSLB. All payments to the students and the higher education institutions is made by TSLB and payment details provided to FRCS.
“As soon as a student completes his/her program and graduates, TSLB changes the status of the student from ‘Active’ to ‘Graduate’ and based on the change in status, FRCS starts with the recovery action as soon as the student gets employed,” he said.
Since the inception of the new schemes in 2014, more than 22,000 students have benefited and about 6500 students have so far graduated.
