Ewan McGregor’s wife speaks out

EWAN McGregor’s estranged wife has broken her silence after he thanked her and his new lover during his Golden Globes acceptance speech.

The 46-year-old actor, who ditched Eve Mavrakis for his co-star Mary Elizabeth Winstead last year, made the comment while collecting the award for his role in Fargo.

Accepting the Best Actor in a Limited Series accolade on Sunday night, he said: “I want to take a moment to say thank you to Eve. Who always stood by me for 22 years. To my four children, Clara, Ester, Jamyan and Anouk, I love you.”

He then went on to say how he would not have won the role if it wasn’t for his new lover, 32-year-old Mary, who plays Nikki Swango alongside him in Fargo, adding: “There would be no Ray without Mary Elizabeth Winstead. So thank you very much.”

But his ex-wife has since spoken out about her feelings on his choice of words from their formal marital home in Los Angeles.

She told the Daily Mail: “No, I did not like his speech.”

When asked why, she explained: “For the same reasons you are here asking me about it. I am not going to say any more.”

It comes after the Trainspotting star was pictured kissing his new love straight after accepting another award for Fargo at the Critics’ Choice Awards on Thursday night.

In November, Ewan moved his belongings out of his family home to start a new life with Mary.

The Sun exclusively revealed he had moved on with the younger actor in October after they fell in love after meeting on the set of Fargo.
