THE Suva Retailers Association is encouraging members and retailers to open their stores today, tomorrow and on Sunday to facilitate last minute shoppers.
Association president Vinay Kumar yesterday said as Christmas day would fall on a Monday, they were urging retailers to open their stores from 9am to 8pm today, 9am to 7pm tomorrow and 10am to 2pm on Sunday.
Mr Kumar said retailers should note that no permits were required as under the Shop (Regulation of Hours) Bill 2016 “Any shop may operate for up to 24 hours within a day including public holidays.
“However, this Bill does not apply to licensees under the Liquor Act 2006”.
“Please note that this is discretionary, however the participation by the retailers in Suva Town for the suggested opening hours by SRA will be much appreciated.”
