LEPANI Levatia proved too strong for Labasa’s Lekima Kerelotu as he ended their fight in a knockout during the Viti Vanua Rumble boxing program in Labasa yesterday.
The Nauria native from Nalawa, Ra dedicated his win to his biggest fan and 60-year-old father Esala Dodomo.
Levatia maintained a strong composure and did not give Kerelotu any leeway during their fight taking control of the bout from the first round.
Strong punches from Levatia saw him knock out Kerelotu in the second minute of the second round.
The father of three boys also dedicated his win to his family adding that his victory was possible through their unanimous support.
In the sixth bout of the night Nadi’s Shemal Annuj created havoc in the ring when he knocked out his opponent Krishnil Chand in the 37th second of the second round.
In the other fights, Timothy Lee defeated Yateshwar Mangal while Shafroz Ali, Adriel Thien and Filimoni Naliva Jr all won through knockouts.
Meanwhile in the amateur bouts Esekaia Nawele and Apisai Naciqa drew with 29 points each, Saula Junior was held to a draw by Vitori Cavalevu at 29 points each while Voreqe Johnson defeated Semesa Gu 29-16.
The Assistant Minister for Sport Iliesa Delana officially opened the boxing program which had to be postponed for two hours because of adverse weather.
This did not dampen the spirits of spectators who flocked to Subrail Park yesterday to witness the program.
Meanwhile there were seven more fights in progress when this paper went to press last night including the main match between Siliveni Nawai and North Golden boy Osea Nakanacagi.
