FIRST Landing Resort and Villas has a history of its own. Its first guest arrived here 3500 years ago and they liked the place so much they stayed — that is according to local legends.
The first iTaukei people arrived on the very beaches of Nailamu before moving to all parts of Fiji. It’s a history that is told to many a guest who arrive from far and wide for a vacation.
Positioned by a coral sand beach, south of Fiji’s second city, Lautoka, the beach resort has a laid-back vibe, fun bar staff, water sports centre and excellent spa. Some of the excursions you can enjoy while there include the nearby mud baths, Koroyanitu National Heritage Park, travel inland to Navala, one of Fiji’s most traditional villages, and island day trips.
This relaxed, no airs-and-graces resort prides itself on its bula spirit (the Fijian word for “hello” and “welcome”, as well as general warmth). Like many places in Fiji, there’s a genuinely relaxed, friendly feel to the place.
The resort, has gone for a natural look with wooden walkways and tropical gardens throughout.
The resort features a range of accommodation from Fijian style bure to their two-bedroom luxurious self-catering royal villa, including a garden villa which has a private pool. They also have the Nailamu Villa which has four bedrooms and a 25m pool and boasts absolute beach frontage.
Activities
The resort has beach volleyball, kayaking, pool games, basket weaving, coconut husking and meke classes which guests thoroughly enjoy. Other activities include, Fijian storytelling, crab racing, jewellery making, cooking classes and medicinal herbal walks.
The property has cute little hammocks everywhere and you will be lucky to get one as it seems everyone loves them. The pool area is very nice. It’s located inland so is not near the ocean or anything (which is not a problem).
If you ever choose to spend your getaway here at First Landing Resort some of the places you can check out include the waters that surround this beautiful coastal area with Underwater World Fiji which offers diving, surfing, fishing and even island day trips or island hopping.
Let’s not forget about your kids. The Nailamu Nippers Kids Club is the best way to entertain your kids while you enjoy your get away. Guests can relax knowing their children will be well looked after by the heart-warming staff at First Landing. They’ll be kept occupied with traditional inspired games and activities with a Pacific twist.
It’s understood the resort is expected to launch a few new projects in the coming years.
According to news reports this includes the construction of 12 new villas, six will be two bedrooms and six will have a single bedroom. All will have separate pools and a private courtyard. First Landing has a 33 acre foreshore development lease. Plans are advancing for the construction of a restaurant and 12 semi overwater bure on the existing Left Foot Island.
A new peninsula along the foreshore boundary with Vuda Marina is also planned to have semi overwater bure, and ocean view villas and apartments. These units will be sold to individual investors and be managed by First Landing.
