THE ‘Oqo na noqu masu’ hymn was sung by the Vodafone Fiji Bati players to appreciate President Joji Konrote for hosting them at Borron House in Suva yesterday.
Fiji Bati had been the only team to have sang a hymn before a match.
“We have been singing the song from 2008 until now and it helps them go forward,” Fiji Bati assistant coach Jo Dakuitoga said.
“We will sing the hymn before every match in the Pacific Tri-Nations and the Rugby League World Cup and we will continue to sing it since it is a national anthem and we have replaced “Quruquru vatu” (the Fiji Bati traditional war dance) with the “Oqo na noqu masu”.
“We have been signing the hymn for the past years and oqo na noqu masu means this is my prayer.”
Rabele said the coaching panel would look at the players and the combination in today’s Tri-Nations match against Papua New Guinea and Australia.
“It is the process for the Rugby World Cup and it would help the players to understand each other and we are very fortunate to have the Tri-Nations in Fiji to build on to our combination,” he added.
“The fans should come out in big numbers and support the players for the Rugby League World Cup.”
