LAUTOKA City has entered the modern shopping era with the opening of the $3.5 million Extra Supermarket at the TappooCity Lautoka complex.
Hundreds of customers patiently waited for Hindu religious rituals to be completed before rushing in to soak in the brand new shopping experience and to take advantage of opening specials.
Director Abhishek Abhimannu said the decision to open in the Sugar City was because of the unprecedented opportunity to offer the people of Lautoka a more upmarket shopping experience.
“We are so delighted to be able to set up our first business in Tappoo City Lautoka,” he said.
“Extra Supermarket offers customers more premium brands in a great setting with lots of parking and a very comfortable atmosphere.”
Mr Abhimannu said apart from providing employment for 60 staff members, the supermarket also opened opportunities for suppliers.
“We are providing a great shopping experience because we are a family-owned business and we know what the families of Lautoka want.
“We offer a very wide range of choices and specials and a premium shopping experience as well.”
Mr Abhimannu said a second Extra Supermarket will open next year at a brand new retail complex currently under construction at Flagstaff in Suva.
The Lautoka supermarket was officially opened on Friday August 25.
