MORE than 40 new employments have been created following the opening of the $4.5 million Life Cinema in Nakasi yesterday.
Life Cinema film booking and promotions manager Daniel Vikash said the new staff members underwent training two weeks prior to the opening.
“There has been 40 staff along with six management teams employed at this stage and as we go along, if there is a need for more staff, we’ll surely get more,” he said.
He said neighbouring communities would no longer have to travel far to watch the latest movies with state-of-the-art facilities.
The cinema’s construction took two years and it has state of the art facilities consisting of four cinemas with a sitting capacity of 600 people,
“People of Nausori were waiting for a cinema to open here and now that the cinema is here, come and enjoy the latest movies,” he said.
“We are just running a business, our competitors are there and we are here to compete.”
He said there were plans in place to expand the business to other parts of the country, depending on the suitability of locations.
The first three cinemas opened yesterday while Cinema 4 is planned to open today.
Nakasi resident Sandya Swamy said the cinemas was a convenient location and would now save travelling time for people in the locality.
