Sun prediction

Thank you Allen for your comment about the “weather gang” predicting spot-on about the rain and strong wind and you also wanted to know if they can predict sun (FT 21/2/17).

As a retired weatherman and as far as I know, they do not predict sun in their daily bulletins. The sun will rise in the morning from the East and set in the evening to the West. That is the normal routine.

During rain, strong wind and other weather occurrences, the sun may not be seen but it is up there trying to find a gap to show its brightness. When analysing the weather map of the Fiji Group to be printed in our daily papers, when there is no cloud over Fiji, when the winds are light and no rain, the symbol of the sun should be shown around the Fiji area predicting it will be a sunny day but the word “sun” does not appear in the bulletins.

However, fine weather are the two words that will tell us that the sun will be shining at us from above until it sets to the West. Enjoy the sun, Allen.
