Update: 6:40PM AN offshore earthquake that occurred within the Fiji region does not pose any immediate threat to the country.
The 5.1 magnitude earthquake occurred at a depth of 463 kilometres at 3:46pm this afternoon.
According to the Mineral Resources Department’s Seismology Unit, it was a moderate size earthquake with deep depth source location.
The earthquake occurred 270km Northeast from Ogea Island in Lau, 124km Southeast from Tubou Village in Lakeba and 403km East-Southeast from Suva.
