Update: 10:00AM THERE will be more job opportunities for coconut farmers in Kanacea and Yacata on Vanua Levu, and Cicia in the Lau group, when a new virgin coconut oil factory opens by next year.
Vatuvara Private Island Resort general manager Robert Miller said the new virgin coconut oil factory would create more jobs for the locals from the three islands.
Mr Miller said the company had recruited a coconut specialist from Levuka to train the local staff as part of skills development and successful planning.
“Our coconut specialist or expert is David Khan from Levuka. He has spent a lot of years in working at virgin coconut oil factories and also has experience in building them,” he said.
The virgin coconut oil factory will be set up on Kaibu Island.
