Update: 2:49PM CLOSING submissions in the trial of a 28-year-old man who was allegedly raped at the Suva Corrections Centre in 2012 was made in the High Court in Suva this morning.
Jonacani Ciritabua, Tevita Qaqanivalu and Sefton Tupou are charged with one count of rape.
The alleged incident took place on November 2, 2012 at the Yasi Dormitory of the Suva Corrections Centre. The three men are alleged to have inserted a broom handle into the complainant.
Priya Lal of the Legal Aid Commission who is representing Ciritabua was the first to make her closing submission before Eoghn Samisoni of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Qaqanivalu and Tupou will make their closing submission at 2:15pm.
Trial judge Justice Achala Wengapulli is expected to sum up the case on Friday.
