Digicel Roaming Passport comes into effect

Update: 2:20PM POSTPAID business customers for Digicel Fiji are expected to save thousands of dollars a year on calling and data charges while travelling overseas with its Roaming Passport which came into effect from yesterday.

Digicel Fiji chief executive officer Darren McLean says all Digicel Postpaid customers can now opt into a Roaming Passport before or after arrival for just FJ$15 per day.

Mr McLean said the service offered 100 minutes of calling, 100 text messages and 100Mb of data to Postpaid customers roaming in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu and Nauru.

“Our business customers have been enquiring after last week’s launch of our ‘Roam Like You’re Home’ campaign and from today we are happy to extend the concept to Postpay.

“Many of our Fiji customers will now save thousands of dollars a year on calling and data charges while roaming.

“This plan will give flexibility to our customers whether travelling for business or pleasure to run their business easily while travelling and not to worry about swapping sims and getting surprise bills when they return home.

“Our customers now have the benefit of 24/7 access to their company emails and can stay connected on their mobiles with their staff and family for just FJ$15 per day.

“I encourage every business in Fiji that travels frequently in the Pacific, Australia or New Zealand to try Digicel and see the savings for yourselves.”

A statement from Digicel yesterday said in addition to the value being offered by the Roaming Passport, out of bundle rates have also been reduced substantially with rates now $1 per minute to call back or to receive calls while roaming in the seven destinations, 50c to send an SMS and $1 per MB.

It said the new rates and the Roaming Passport applied when roaming on any network in NZ and Australia, and on Digicel networks in the Pacific.
