Winners cry foul

A CONTESTANT, sporting team and companies that took part in the North Youth Carnival 2016 are crying foul as they still await their prizemoney from the carnival’s organising committee.

Bainivualiku coach Belasio Vukiwai said it had been a month since the carnival took place, adding they were still waiting for their prizemoney of $2000.

Mr Vukiwai said they had been trying to contact the carnival committee’s chairman, Josaia Loloma, ever since but their attempts had been futile.

“We will make sure that he pays us before we report him to the authorities. He has to make a way to meet us and sort things out,” he said.

The carnival’s winning contestant, Dorin Irvin, said she was also still waiting for her $5000 prizemoney she was promised, adding they needed to begin work on the sea wall on Rabi Island.

“I still haven’t heard from him and I think it would be rude if he is changing everything he promised.

“During our earlier talks, Mr Loloma was talking about doing the projects in phases which is something totally new because we were never told of this.”

Northern Premier Music Centre owner Prem Chand said they were tired of hearing false promises from Mr Loloma about receiving $2400.20 weekly.

Mr Loloma said he had made arrangements with the complainants. However, in a joint statement yesterday, the complainants refuted Mr Loloma’s claim, saying they had not heard from Mr Loloma.
