YOUR nespaper of 18/7/16 carried for the second time an inquiry into the name of the place where I am from, whether it is Nadi or Nandi.
As a Nadi native working in the tourism industry for a number of years, I want to make two things very clear.
The first is that we natives of Nadi and other iTaukei people pronounce the name of the place in question as Nadi.
Secondly, tourists by the nature of their pronunciation — and even some locals too for that matter — pronounce it as Nandi so an extra letter, “n”, is added.
However one pronounces it, whether it be an iTaukei saying Nadi or one of those who pronounce it as Nandi, they are referring to the one and same place.
