It was a home owner’s nightmare as he discovered electrical wiring taken from his unfinished house and all stored electrical wire missing. Businessman Subhash Mani discovered on Friday electrical wire containing copper stripped from the ceiling from his two-storey home that is being built.

Growers Council in harvest plan

The Sugar Cane Growers Council intends to hold harvesting gang meetings in Rakiraki in a desperate bid to get gang memorandums signed. But the National Farmers Union has branded the move illegal and was warned the council against interference.

Cane trials at Navua, Nausori

The Fiji Sugar Cane Corporation has started growing new varieties of sugar cane for ethanol at Navua and Nausori. Reports that cane was grown on land owned by Consolidated Farms Ltd at Navua were confirmed by the general manager of FSC Projects Limited, Mr Dan Ellison.

Drifters prayed continuously

Ten Cikobia islanders adrift on a crippled launch in open prayed continuously to be saved. The party — five men, two women and three youth who drifted for five days in the nine -etre launch Adi Senibua arrived at the Lautoka Wharf aboard the naval ship HMFS Kiro yesterday, in good health and high spirits.
