200 bookings confirmed for beach resort

ABOUT 200 weddings have so far been booked at Korotogo-based Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort.

Speaking to this newspaper during the Fiji Wedding Expo at the Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa yesterday, sales manager Darshita Naidu said weddings were a huge market for Fiji.

“Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort is a five-star property and one of our markets is the wedding market,” she said.

“Roughly, we do more than 250 weddings per year and we do one wedding per day.”

She said they catered for small and large-scale weddings at the resort.

“Almost 80 to 85 per cent of weddings come from our Australian market and it also takes up 35 per cent of our accommodation so it is really huge.

“Having this expo is also an opportunity for the wedding market to be out there, to show that we can also sell in Fiji.”

To cater for couples, the resort offers different wedding packages together with its sister property Castaway Island.

“For example, you get married in Outrigger and go for a honeymoon at Castaway. There were some guests here who were interested in the packages and they are going up to the property to see it for themselves.”

“I believe we are also promoting our local tourism market during this expo.”
