Update: 9:26PM FIVE villagers from the island of Druadrua swam for their lives close to Mali waters after the boat they were travelling in capasized.
Commissioner North Jovesa Vocea confirmed the five were safe at Mali Island even though they had lost their belongings.
In a similar incident another fibreglass boat bound for Mali Island capasized at Malau because of strong waves this evening.
Fiji Forest Industry Limited workers confirmed that the boat capasized and the passengers were safe and well at Malau settlement.
Meanwhile, Mr Vocea has called on members of the public to refrain from travelling out at sea until the current wet weather system cleared.
