Roko Tui Cakaudrove Filimoni Naiqumu says no villager has been exiled from villages in the province in relation to the drug raids conducted there.
This was after the Tui Cakau, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, issued a by-law which stated that anyone caught cultivating marijuana would be exiled from their villages.
Mr Naiqumu said as the paramount chief of Cakaudrove, Ratu Naiqama sets out measures on how clan elders could address marijuana cultivation through the bose va vanua.
“The passing of the by-law by the Tui Cakau is basically to educate the village elders and so to keep the village people safe.”
Meanwhile, Mr Naiqumu said police were doing a great job in monitoring hot spots where marijuana plants had recently been uprooted in the province.
He said the police mobile team from Suva was working with a police team in Cakaudrove to survey areas where marijuana was known or suspected to be cultivated.
He added the presence of the mobile team ensured the success of the raids on marijuana farms in Cakaudrove.
