Cosmetics label hits Fiji

A CANADIAN cosmetics label has hit the Fijian market by storm after it recently launched its presence in one of the leading high-end retail shops in the country.

MAC cosmetics has hit many renowned fashion runways globally, styling models, Hollywood actresses and artistes around the world. Now, it has stamped its mark in Fiji through Tappoo Group of Companies retail at TappooCity in Suva and Nadi International Airport.

Group executive director Harnish Tappoo said the sale of MAC had been good.

“We look forward to growing and developing their brand,” Mr Tappoo said.

MAC cosmetics are the number one in the Oceania and Asia Pacific region and they have it at TapooCity and Nadi International Airport stores.

MAC Cosmetics director Shahrom Rashid and its marketing manager Linda Seek visited TappooCity in Suva yesterday.

Selected staff members at TappooCity were trained by professionals from MAC Cosmetics.

MAC was established in Toronto when makeup artiste and photographer Frank Toskan and beauty salon owner Frank Angelo brainstormed a makeup line.

Frustrated because of the lack of colours that would shoot well with photography; their aim was to develop a studio line makeup line that would fulfil their professional needs.

With every colour, and every magazine credit, word-of-mouth popularity grew.

In March 1984, the duo officially launched the line from a single counter in a department store in Toronto.
