OUTRIGGER Fiji boasted to have the best staff of any resort in Fiji. And the resort’s general manager Peter Hopgood has labelled them as their “Number one” asset.
“This is why I am so proud to stand before you tonight to acknowledge the recipients of the 15-year service awards,” he said.
During the resort’s 15th Anniversary celebration, Mr Hopgood also acknowledged the presence of the former owner and developer of Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort, Geoff Shaw, whose vision and foresight has done so much for the tourism industry in Fiji.
“Tonight we celebrate the 15th year anniversary of Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort.
“This weekend is a momentous occasion for Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort.
He also acknowledged those who have worked at the resort for more than five or 10 years.
Also culminating with the celebration is the officialling opening of its community tourism project, the meeting bure at the Conua School and acknowledging their staff who have been with the Resort from the beginning and have worked at the resort for more than 15 years.
“A lot of people say that I boast too much but what I have told you is true! Here’s a little proof!
Two of their chefs Shailesh Naidu and Chef Shameer Khan were recognised.
He said during the Salon Culinaire Fiji Chef Awards one of the chefs Mr Khan was voted chef of the year.
“Once again this is what we are proud of at Outrigger,” he added.
He said 80 per cent of the chefs who work at the resort started as trainees. This is a wonderful credit to their Executive Chef, Shailesh Naidu.
