Battle in the semis

LAST year’s runner-up Labasa, Lautoka and Rewa have qualified for the semi-finals of the Fiji Football Association women’s Inter-District Championship super premier division at Govind Park in Ba today.

This after the two teams recorded victories in the second round of the Pool B matches yesterday.

Labasa downed Navua 4-0.

In the opening round, the northerners defeated Nadi 3-1.

Yesterday Lautoka beat Nadi 2-0.

Renee Biautubu and Alowesi Nairodravi scored the goals in the first half.

Lautoka dominated the match but individual play denied them from winning with a higher margin.

The Blues wasted many goal scoring opportunities.

Lautoka coach Sere Nalulu said the players needed to combine.

“It is the first IDC for some players so it is a learning curve for them,” Nalulu said.

Defending champions Ba was playing Rewa in the deciding Pool A clash when this edition went to press last night.

The semi-finals will kick off at 9am.

The super premier final is scheduled for 4pm.
