Rugby growth

ALTHOUGH we did not reach the quarter-finals but it exposed the very best of our Flying Fijians, behind the scenes, I must pay homage and give credit to our forwards coach Alan Muir, he brought in state-of-the-art technological expertise that is conducive with today’s professional rugby, his input is recognised through the changes visible from the kickoffs, line-outs, scrums, and the discipline, what a delight to watch, these were the areas where our past rugby coaches and teams failed miserably.

Taking nothing away from the World Rugby board why is it there are two separate rules, one for the tier one but none for tier two rugby playing nations in their WR make up?

What will happen if there was to be a separate tier two nations rugby board to be formed, it just seems their inclusive contribution to World Rugby does not warrant their place in the WR board.

Can WR do without the tier two nations’ input in terms of rugby union’s marketability?

The success seen by the millions who watched the Flying Fijians’ fantastic professional display of rugby at its best must now be translated to grassroots primary school rugby, secondary schools, under 20s, club rugby and at provincial level.

Let’s maintain the momentum to grow our own Fijian home-grown rugby that is unique, one can also imagine the publicity Tourism Fiji received in terms of the coverage from the millions of viewers worldwide.

It is great to note the commitment made by our government in terms of its support through our PM and the Minister for Youth and Sports announcements respectively.
